El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from December 14th to December 20th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from December 14th  to December 20th      

December 14

Prowling - 800 Block of Contra Costa Dr:
At 4:37 AM, an officer reports the victim reviewed his security camera video and discovered three subjects wearing masks and gloves walking up to his house at 1:13 AM. The suspects were scared off by the victim’s motion sensor lights.   

Vehicle Burglary - 5800 Block of El Dorado Ave:
At 5:31 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect smashed a window on the victim’s vehicle and stole property.

Vehicle Burglary – 5800 block of El Dorado Ave:
At 8:36 AM, and officer reports a vehicle was burglarized sometime overnight and property was taken.

Organized Retail Theft with Priors/Possession of a Controlled Substance/ Outstanding Warrant - 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls):
At 9:12 PM, an officer was at the business conducting a security check when employees notified him of two suspects inside the store who were in the process of stealing merchandise. As additional officers were responding to the area the two suspects exited an emergency door and attempted to flee with the unpaid merchandise. Officers detained both suspects and they were placed under Citizen’s Arrest. During a search incident to arrest one of the suspects was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. Officers discovered the suspect had two prior drug possession convictions and three outstanding warrants. During a records check for the second suspect, officers discovered he had two prior theft convictions. Boths suspects were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility after booking.
 
December 15
Warrant Arrest – 500 Block of Albemarle St:
At 11:18 AM, officers contacted and arrested a subject for an outstanding warrant. The subject was later transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

 Vandalism – 7500 Block of Rockway Ave:
At 3:44 PM, an officer reports an unknown subject vandalized a street sign at an unknown time.

Battery – Liberty St / Fairmount Ave:
At 8:35 PM, the victim was assaulted from behind by an unknown suspect.  The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – 10900 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 2:19 AM, officer located an unreported stolen vehicle that was abandoned.

Stolen Vehicle – 5300 Block of School St:
At 3:02 AM, officers responded to a theft of a vehicle that just occurred.  The suspects fled prior to police arrival and could not be located.

December 16
Stolen Vehicle – 10900 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 1:24 PM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight.

Warrant Arrest – Fairmount Ave and Ohlone Greenway:
At 2:08 PM, during a call for service, officers located a wanted subject. The subject was booked at El Cerrito Police Department and released with a new court date.

Identity Theft – 9900 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 7:42 PM, the victim reported the theft of personal identifying information by an unknown suspect.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – 11900 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 11:54 PM, officers located an unoccupied stolen vehicle.  Officers contacted the victim and the victim came and took possession of their vehicle.

Felon in Possession of Firearm / Possession of Concealed Firearm / Felon in Possession of Ammunition / Possession of Narcotics and Drug Paraphernalia – 11900 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 12:33 AM, officers contacted a subject and observed drug paraphernalia in plain view.  Upon a search incident to arrest, the subject was found in possession of a firearm, ammunition, and narcotics. The subject was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

December 17
Residential burglary – 2000 block of Tapscott Ave:
At 9:49 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim's residence over that last few days and property within the residence had been moved.

Shoplifting – 5805 Cutting Blvd (Skechers):
At 10:38 AM, an officer reports the suspect stole merchandise and fled prior to police arrival.

Warrant Arrest – 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 8:57 PM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on an outstanding warrant.  The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave / El Dorado Ave:
At 3:23 AM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence.  The driver was later released on a citation to a sober friend.

December 18
Burglary – 6400 Block of Stockton Ave:
At 10:02 AM, an officer reports the suspect forced entry to the building, ransacked and vandalized the business.

Possession of a Concealed Firearm – Kearney St / Manila Ave:
At 11:19 AM, during a suspicious vehicle check and later during a pedestrian stop an officer arrested a subject for being in possession of a concealed firearm inside the vehicle. The subject was booked at ECPD and later released on a citation.

Burglary – 10900 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 12:58 PM, an officer reports the suspect entered a construction area and cut numerous copper pipes.

Stolen Vehicle – 6615 Schmidt Lane:
At 3:38 PM, the victim reports their motorcycle was stolen sometime overnight.

Possession of Narcotics / Parole Violation – 8100 Block of Terrace Dr:
At 10:26 PM, officers were dispatched to a subject standing in the roadway and lighting something on fire.  Officers arrived on scene and detained a subject.  The subject was on parole, and during a search was found in possession of narcotics.  The subject was arrested and a parole hold was obtained.  The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Shoplifting / Theft with Priors / Probation Violation – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 11:05 PM, officers responded to a shoplift in progress.  Officers arrived on scene a detained a subject in the parking lot.  The subject was identified and placed under citizen’s arrest.  The subject was on probation and had several prior convictions for theft related crimes.  The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Grand Theft – 1600 Block of Navellier St:
At 5:06 AM, officers responded to a theft of a catalytic converter.  The suspects fled prior to police arrival.

December 19th
Driving Under the Influence- San Pablo Ave/ Eureka Ave:
At 12:55 AM, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. After booking the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.

Burglary – 1500 block of Kearney St:
At 8:18 AM, an officer reports unidentified suspect(s) cut the chain link fence on the greenway side to make entry to the yard, then broke in to a travel trailer in the yard and stole property.  Occurred overnight between 12/18 and 12/19.

Battery / Brandishing – 1700 block of Eastshore Blvd:
At 3:18 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect pushed the victim off his scooter and into the bushes, then brandished a knife.  The victim got up and fled the area. 
 
December 20th
Driving Under the Influence and Possession of a Controlled Substance - Carlson Blvd/ Adams Ct:
At 4:34 AM, officers responded to the area for a solo rollover collision. Upon arrival, officers located the driver along with a passenger. The driver had collided into a sidewalk causing the vehicle to overturn. Officers conducted a DUI investigation and placed the driver under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. During a search incident to arrest the driver was found to be in possession of fentanyl. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.  

Robbery / Public Intoxication / Battery on Peace Officer / Warrant Arrest – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 12:17 PM, officers responded to a report of an UNWANT at Lucky.  While enroute, the detail escalated to a robbery.  The suspect struck one customer, then shoved another and stole property before fleeing. An officer located a person who matched the suspect description on Central Ave near San Mateo Ave and detained him.  The suspect was highly intoxicated, matched the description exactly, was positively identified during an in-field show up and was placed under arrest.  During the struggle to get him in the patrol car, the suspect kicked an officer.  The suspect also had an arrest warrant out of Berkeley PD.  Booked at the Martinez Detention Facility.

Petty Theft – 1600 block of Lexington Ave:
At 3:22 PM, an officer took a report of stolen license plates taken between 12/16 and 12/20.

Stolen Vehicle - 7007 Moser Ln:
At 8:01 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle. The theft occurred between noon and 7:00 PM.

Criminal Threats- 10800 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 8:38 PM, an officer reports a known suspect to the victim made verbal threats to harm the victim.
