Winter Storm Watch until 12:00PM Monday

...WINTER STORM TO IMPACT THE REGION SUNDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY MORNING... .A rapidly developing winter storm will bring snow and strong winds to the region from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. Rain early Sunday morning transitions to snow from west to east during the day, with increasing northwesterly winds Sunday afternoon gusting to 35 to 45 mph through Monday morning. The heaviest snow amounts are expected along and north of Interstate 90, but the combination of light falling snow and strong winds could lead to blizzard conditions west of the Mississippi River. A flash freeze is also possible Sunday afternoon into the evening as temperatures rapidly fall below freezing with roadways still warm and wet.

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible with total snow accumulations between 4 and 6 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. A flash freeze is also possible due to rapidly falling temperatures and wet roadways.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Minnesota and central, north central, and west central Wisconsin.

* WHEN...From Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.

* IMPACTS...Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.
