Severe Winter Weather 
Due to severe weather coming this evening and through the next two days, the Mackinaw City Police Department is encouraging residents to not travel unless they absolutely have to. Motorists are encouraged to check travel conditions and weather reports before driving to help ensure their safety.
The National Weather Service is forecasting the potential for freezing rain and heavy snow accumulation. They are also predicting high winds between 40-50 mph which can cause whiteout conditions.
