Pair Receives Felony Drug Charge
Deputy William Guzman with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 27-year-old Hannah Hylemon of Marion with felony Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and felony Possession of Methamphetamine. She was given a secured bond of $7,500.
Also charged was 35-year-old Cody Alexander Hughes of Marion, with felony Possession of Methamphetamine, felony Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was issued a secured bond of $7,500 as well.
On Dec. 18, Dep. Guzman assisted the N.C. State Highway Patrol with a vehicle stop involving Hylemon and Hughes. During the stop, it was discovered that Hughes had an active warrant for his arrest out of Buncombe County.
A subsequent search of the vehicle and occupants turned up suspected amounts of fentanyl and methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia.
“A job well done by our deputies,” said Chief Deputy Nathan Mace. “Through proactive enforcement and strong partnerships, we remain committed to holding offenders accountable and keeping dangerous drugs out of our communities.”
