Convenience Store Clerk Assaulted by La Puente Man After Being Asked to Leave

SUSPECT(S): David Diaz, 28-year-old male, Resident of La Puente
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Sunday, December 28, 2025, at approximately 10:28 a.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station responded to a call for service reference an assault at a convenience store. The reporting party advised dispatch he was assaulted by an unknown suspect and was bleeding.
Deputies arrived on scene within minutes and learned the suspect fled the location prior to deputies’ arrival. Through investigation, deputies learned the victim was an employee at the location and had asked the suspect, later identified as David Diaz, to leave the business. Diaz became upset when asked to leave the store and struck the victim several times, injuring him. Diaz then fled the location with unpaid merchandise.
An extensive area check was conducted, and deputies located Diaz a short distance away. Diaz was detained and taken into custody. Through investigation, deputies learned Diaz was on active parole for PC245(A)(4)- Using force likely to cause injury. Medical personnel arrived on scene to evaluate and treat the victim.
David Diaz was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for PC211-Robbery.
