Rain Expected - Use EXTREME Caution!
Recent flooding has significantly changed the landscape of local roads, and more rain is expected over the next few days. What looks familiar may no longer be safe.
Do NOT drive through flooded roadways or around barricades — no matter how shallow it appears.
Floodwater can hide washed-out pavement, deep ruts, debris, or sudden drop-offs. Many roads in the area remain closed for safety reasons, and attempting to bypass closures puts lives and first responders at risk.

If you must drive during rainy conditions:
-
Slow down immediately. Reduced traction and altered road surfaces require extra caution.
-
Turn on your headlights anytime it’s raining — day or night.
-
Increase your following distance to at least five seconds.
-
Avoid sudden braking to prevent sliding or losing control.
-
Give yourself extra time so you’re not tempted to rush.
As always, wear your seatbelt, stay alert, and do not text and drive.
PLEASE ONLY USE 911 FOR LIFE-THREATENING EMERGENCIES AND CONSIDER USING THE VIRTUAL DEPUTY FOR NON-EMERGENT REPORTS OR LAW-ENFORCEMENT QUESTIONS.
