HS11377(A): POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE
LOCATION: Bellflower Road & Yucca Road, Adelanto
SUSPECT(S): Shawn Thornton, 27-years-old, Resident of Adelanto
Jacqueline Zuniga, 40-years-old, Resident of Victorville
SUMMARY: On Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 11:27 p.m., a deputy from the Adelanto Sheriff’s Station attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a gray Subaru sedan.
The driver failed to yield and continued driving recklessly, showing complete disregard for public safety. A pursuit of the vehicle ensued, which ended when the vehicle became disabled in a nearby field. The suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
With assistance from Sheriff’s Aviation (40K) and responding deputies, the suspect was located and detained without incident. The driver was was identified as Shawn Thornton.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies discovered a passenger, Jacqueline Zuniga, who was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.
Both suspects were arrested and transported to the High Desert Detention Center for booking.
