Deputy Caleb Baliles with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged James Marvin McKinney, 36, of Marion with felony Possession of Methamphetamine. He was denied bond due to already being out on pretrial release.
On Dec. 11, Deputy Baliles initiated a vehicle stop on U.S. 221 N for a traffic violation. McKinney was the driver and found to be operating a vehicle without a license.
A subsequent search of the vehicle by detectives and MCSO K9 Rambo turned up suspected amounts of methamphetamine.
The N.C. State Highway Patrol assisted with the incident.
