Snow Report - .5" 12/31 into 1/1

I am hoping this is a tiny dusting, so no real report. Just a brief report from NWS Philadelphia/Mount Holly:

Snow showers are expected to develop this evening and continue through the overnight hours. This will be accompanied by the potential for the development of snow squalls early on Thursday morning, New Year's Day.

Hazardous Weather:  Snow showers and squalls, resulting in brief periods of white-out conditions and very quick changes from bare pavement to snow-covered roads. Total accumulation will be less than an inch except in areas of higher terrain.

Locations affected:  Snow showers and squalls may affect the entire region. Highest accumulations with potential for snowfall accumulation of up to around 1 inch is in the southern Poconos and Sussex County, New Jersey.

Timing: This evening through morning on New Year's Day. Greatest potential for snow squall development will be between 2 AM and 10 AM Thursday.

Impacts: Snow squalls can produce intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds, resulting in rapidly reduced visibility and poor road conditions, making travel difficult and potentially dangerous.

Confidence on occurrence: Moderate-High confidence (60-80%on the development of snow showers across the northern portions of the area. Low-moderate confidence (20-40%) on the development of snow squalls as well as the southern extent of snow showers.
