From the Desk of SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN New Year’s Eve Safety Message
On New Year’s Eve, Chief of Police Kevin Roberts, District Attorney Tasha Mosley, Solicitor General Charles Brooks, and I want to make one thing crystal clear: we will do everything in our power and authority to protect the residents of Clayton County.
I’ve mobilized my deputies and reached out to Chief Roberts and all city police chiefs to join Operation Night of Protection. With over 200 deputy sheriffs and police officers on the road together, we are ensuring the safety of Clayton County.
District Attorney Tasha Mosley encourages everyone to enjoy Clayton’s festivities responsibly and bring in the New Year with peace, joy, love, and laughter.
Solicitor General Charles Brooks reminds everyone to use fireworks, not guns, and to drink responsibly. If you drink, have a designated driver or use a rideshare. Any celebratory gunfire or reckless drinking and driving will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Police Chief Kevin Roberts assures everyone that the Clayton County Police Department will continue to collaborate with our law enforcement partners this New Year’s Eve to keep Clayton County safe. We encourage everyone to celebrate safely. Clayton County Police will aggressively enforce laws prohibiting DUI and celebratory gunfire on this holiday.
Let me be clear: the safety of Clayton County is my top priority. I will tolerate absolutely NO foolishness in these streets. If you’re planning anything criminal or dangerous, take it somewhere else. Georgia has 159 counties, but Clayton County WILL NOT be the one to play with tonight.
My team will have the streets covered well into the new year. Our residents will be protected, and anyone threatening that safety will face swift consequences.
