The male victim, 24, was in the listed area when he was confronted by the known suspect. The suspect attempted to strike the victim multiple times with a hatchet, but the victim was able to fend him off. The suspect fled but was later located by officers and arrested without incident. ARRESTED: James Whatley, 57, for assault with a deadly weapon.
2. Carjacking (1650) 1600 Block of East Bianchi Road, Valley Oak District
The male victims, 28 and 20, arrived in the area to make a purchase. The suspects approached the victims, brandished firearms at them, and took their property. The victims fled on foot. The suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle, which was later recovered. SUSPECTS: Three Black male adults
3. Armed Robbery (2158) 4500 Block of North Pershing Avenue, Lakeview District
The male victim, 22, was working at an area business when the suspects entered, ran behind the counter, and stole property. The victim chased after the suspects, but one of the suspects brandished a firearm at him. The suspects fled. SUSPECTS: Two White male adults and a Black male adult
4. Resisting Arrest (0144) 10200 Block of Paulsell Drive, Bear Creek District
Officers responded to a residence in the listed area on a report of a disturbance. As officers attempted to detain the suspect, he pulled away. Officers used force to take the suspect into custody. ARRESTED: Brandon Evans, 19, for domestic violence, resisting arrest, child endangerment, and false identification.
5. Pursuit Arrest (0516) Lower Sacramento Road and El Camino Avenue, Bear Creek District
Officers responded to the listed area on a report of a driver asleep at the wheel. Officers located the driver and attempted a traffic enforcement stop. The driver failed to yield, leading officers on a short pursuit. The pursuit ended when the driver collided with a wall. ARRESTED: Joseph Prieto, 26, for traffic charges and DUI.
