On January 4, 2026, Deputy Michael Owens was dispatched to a burglary not in progress call in the 7000 block of South 750 East near Somerville. Upon arriving Deputy Owens spoke with the reporting party who advised that a shotgun had been taken from the property. Deputy Owens collected evidence that identified 30-year-old Clay Pflug of Oakland City and the Green 2000 Dodge Dakota as the person who had taken the weapon. At the conclusion of the investigation on scene Deputy Michael Owens and Oakland City Police Chief located the Dodge Dakota and Mr. Pflug at an establishment in Oakland City. After a brief investigation the shotgun was retrieved, and Mr. Pflug was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Detention Center. Upon arriving at the detention center Mr. Pflug was charged with Burglary While Armed With a Deadly Weapon, Residential Entry, and Theft of a Firearm.
