Meridian Police Man Arrested After Punching and Assaulting Officers
MERIDIAN, ID –
At around 9:30pm on January 4th, 2026, Meridian Police were dispatched to the 6000 block of Carlese Avenue in Meridian for a noise complaint regarding a vehicle parked on the street blaring loud music.
Upon officers’ arrival the vehicle passenger, Eric NDAYISHIMIYE (30) of Meridian exited the vehicle and walked away from the location. The driver of the vehicle was cooperative and spoke with officers regarding the noise complaint. It was then discovered the vehicle contained open containers of alcohol and smelled of Marijuana. A few moments later NDAYISHIMIYE walked back to the vehicle for reasons unknown. He refused to cooperate with officers, who had valid cause to detain him reference their investigation, and he began to walk away. NDAYISHIMIYE was then placed under arrest and in the process, he began battering the officer arresting him, punching him in the face one time, and attempting to punch and kick him multiple times.
Additional officers responded and finished taking NDAYISHIMIYE into custody. In the process he continued to assault and batter multiple officers by attempting to bite, strike, and/or spit on them.
NDAYISHIMIYE was booked at the Ada County Jail and was charged with six counts of felony battery on law enforcement, 3 counts of felony assault on law enforcement, and one count of misdemeanor resisting or obstructing officers. NDAYISHIMIYE was not injured, and one involved officer received minor injuries.
