Advisory

City of Sierra Madre Overnight Parking Update

Effective January 1, 2026, annual parking permits will no longer be issued as physical decals. Residents who purchase an annual parking permit will instead receive a printable permit to be displayed on the driver-side dashboard of the vehicle. Permit validity will be verified by officers through the vehicle's license plate. Please note that your vehicle may have a physical decal since you purchased your permit prior to January 1, 2026. Your permit will remain valid until the listed expiration date.

Additional Information:

  • Upon purchase, the system will generate a printable permit. Daily permits will be issued in the same manner.
  • Residents will have two opportunities to print an annual permit at different times to account for potential fading during summer months.
  • Permits are valid for one year from the date of purchase.
  • Permits are not transferable and will have to be purchased for other vehicles in the household.
This message also serves as a reminder that overnight parking without a City-issued overnight parking permit is prohibited on all city streets from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Saturday, in accordance with Sierra Madre Municipal Code 10.24.230. An overnight parking permit does not exempt vehicle owners from complying with another other City municipal code or California vehicle codes.

Overnight parking enforcement will resume on January 7, 2026, at 2:00 a.m. If you have any questions, please contact the Sierra Madre Police Department Non-Emergency line at (626) 355-1414.
