FDNY is reminding New Yorkers to keep fire hydrants clear at all times. It is unlawful to park within 15 feet of a hydrant. Clear access helps firefighters respond quickly when every second counts in an emergency. Parking too close to a hydrant can result in a summons with fines of up to $5,000.
Call 311 to report a blocked or improperly opened fire hydrant.
