Consensual Contact Leads to Firearm Arrest

During a proactive consensual contact, an adult male was found to have a felony warrant. Officers located brass knuckles on the male’s person and a loaded, concealed firearm in the suspect’s vehicle during the investigation.
San Mateo, CA – On January 6, 2026, at approximately 1:34 a.m., a San Mateo Police Department officer made consensual contact with an adult male, later identified as Abhishek Prasher, at the Chevron gas station located at 3rd Avenue and South Norfolk Street.
A records check revealed Prasher had an active felony warrant, and he was taken into custody. During a search incident to arrest, officers located brass knuckles on Prasher’s person. With Prasher’s consent, officers searched his vehicle and located a loaded Glock pistol under the front passenger seat. A records check of the firearm revealed it had been reported stolen in May 2025 out of Stockton.
Prasher was transported to the San Mateo County Jail, where he was booked on charges of carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm in public under specific circumstances, possession of stolen property, possession of brass knuckles, and the outstanding felony warrant.
