The City of Sonora and Triun, LLC have partnered with SAMCO Leak Detection Services, Inc., a recognized leader in advanced leak detection technologies, to conduct a comprehensive leak detection assessment across the city’s water system. Beginning January 5, 2026, residents may notice SAMCO personnel operating clearly marked company vehicles within city limits as the survey gets underway. The project will continue for approximately one month, with SAMCO working closely alongside Triun, LLC and the City of Sonora Public Works Department. 

SAMCO technicians will utilize state-of-the-art electronic leak detection equipment designed to identify underground leaks by capturing and analyzing the distinct acoustic signatures of water escaping from pipelines. As part of this meticulous process, SAMCO will listen at water meters, valves, fire hydrants, and various mainline access points. 
Identifying and repairing leaks provides significant community benefits, including:

• Cost savings by reducing losses of treated water
• Decreased property damage due to fewer uncontrolled water leaks
• Enhanced protection of water quality by lowering the risk of leak-related contamination
