Town of West Springfield to Host Road Safety Public Forum on January 12
West Springfield, MA: The Town of West Springfield will host a Road Safety Public Forum on Monday, January 12, at 5:30 p.m. on the second floor of Town Hall, in the Justin Morgan Auditorium.
The forum will be hosted by Mayor William Reichelt and will include Police Chief Jay Gearing, Fire Chief C.J. Bartone, Department of Public Works Director Trevor Wood, and Town Engineer Connor Knightly. The event is intended to provide residents with an opportunity to share their ideas, concerns, and suggestions regarding road safety throughout the community.
Town officials are seeking feedback on a range of topics, including residents’ experiences with traffic calming measures that have already been implemented, such as speed humps and roundabouts, as well as ideas for additional strategies that could be considered moving forward. The forum will also include discussion of e-bikes, potential expanded sidewalk and bike path connections, and other road safety–related issues of interest to the community.
“We want to hear directly from residents about how they experience our roads and how we can continue to improve safety for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and all users,” said Mayor Reichelt. “Community input will play an important role in shaping road safety efforts in West Springfield going forward.”
All residents are encouraged to attend and participate. The forum will be televised live on Channel 15, and the broadcast will be recorded and made available for later viewing for those unable to attend in person.
