URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Anchorage AK 257 AM AKST Wed Jan 7 2026 Eastern Aleutians-Central Aleutians- Including the cities of Unalaska, Adak, Akutan, Nikolski, and Atka 257 AM AKST Wed Jan 7 2026 ...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING... * WHAT...Blizzard conditions possible. Total snow accumulations 3 to 5 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 70 mph along the Central Aleutians. Wind gusts to 55 mph possible for Unalaska. * WHERE...Central Aleutians and Eastern Aleutians, including Unalaska. * WHEN...From Thursday evening through Friday morning. * IMPACTS...Visibilities reduced to one quarter mile or less due to blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Very strong winds could cause extensive damage to power lines. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Storm Watch for blizzard conditions means there is a potential for falling and/or blowing snow with strong winds and extremely poor visibilities. This can lead to whiteout conditions and make travel very hazardous.
