Wilmington Police arrest a wanted Newark woman in connection to a burglary incident:

Wilmington Police have arrested a wanted Newark woman in connection to a burglary incident.

On January 6th at approximately 9:39 a.m., a member of the Special Operations Division was in the 800 block of North Shipley Street when they were flagged down in reference to a burglary that had just occurred. The officer obtained a description of the suspect and conducted an area canvass. A short time later, the officer observed a female matching the description in the 100 block of Burton Place. The officer made contact with 40-year-old Emily Popkey and took her into custody without incident.

Popkey has been charged with the following offenses in addition to her outstanding warrant:

  • Burglary (Third Degree)
  • Theft Under $1,500
She was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to the Delores J Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $4,000 secured-bail.
