SUBJECT: Felony Assault Suspect Apprehended
LOCATION: 200 Block Walnut Street, Redwood City
DATE/TIME: December 15, 2025, Approximately 2:49 A.M.
On December 15, 2025 at approximately 2:49AM Redwood City Police Officers responded to Planet Fitness in the 200 block of Walnut Street on the report of a disturbance. Officers learned there was a disturbance between two patrons. At some point both patrons exited the business and continued their disagreement. The suspect pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the victim in a threatening manner within very close proximity to the victim. The victim was able to retreat into the business and the suspect fled the scene. This event was captured on nearby surveillance cameras.
This case was forwarded to the Investigations Division for follow up. Investigators were able to positively identify the suspect as 38 year old Louie Yu with a last known address of Sharpsburg, Georgia. Detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for Yu, his vehicle, and storage locker.
On January 7, 2026, at approximately 9:05 P.M, Detectives located Yu in his vehicle in the city of San Bruno. Yu was arrested without incident. During the arrest Yu was found to have a loaded firearm concealed on his person. A search pursuant to the search warrant resulted in the collection of a total of 5 firearms, 2 imitation firearms, numerous high capacity magazines and over 1500 rounds of ammunition.
Yu was later booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility for the following felony charges: Penal Code 245(A)(2) – Assault with a Firearm.
