Petaluma Police Assist in Arrest Following Domestic Violence Call; Large Quantity of Suspected Cocaine Recovered
On January 7, 2026, at approximately 10:49 a.m., a Petaluma Police Department sergeant was advised over the radio that Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office deputies were responding to a domestic violence call in the area of Bailey Avenue in Petaluma. Information relayed indicated the suspect had fled the scene southbound on Petaluma Boulevard North in a black Chevrolet pickup truck.
Petaluma police officers located a vehicle matching that description in the parking lot of the Petaluma Livestock Auction Yard at 84 Corona Road. Officers contacted the sole occupant of the vehicle, who complied with commands and was detained without incident. The driver was identified as 36-year-old Trey Bulleri, a Petaluma resident.
During the contact, officers observed a large one-gallon zip-top bag containing suspected cocaine on the ground near the driver-side door. The substance was later determined to weigh just under 10 ounces. Officers also located more than 30 pre-packaged baggies of suspected cocaine inside the vehicle and an additional five small baggies of suspected cocaine inside Bulleri’s jacket pocket.
Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office deputies took custody of Bulleri in connection with their domestic violence investigation and transported him to the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility. Bulleri was booked on charges related to the domestic violence incident as well as possession of a controlled substance for sale.
Under California law, Health and Safety Code section 11370.4 allows for enhanced penalties when a person is found in possession of specified controlled substances in quantities exceeding statutory thresholds. These weight-based enhancements are intended to address large-scale drug trafficking due to the significant risks such activity poses to community health and safety. Recent changes to state law under Proposition 36 further strengthened accountability for certain serious and repeat drug-related offenses, reflecting California voters’ intent to address the public safety impacts of drug distribution. All charges are allegations, and any potential enhancements or penalties will be determined through the judicial process.
The Petaluma Police Department continues to work closely with regional law enforcement partners to address violent crime and drug-related activity in the community and reminds residents to report suspicious activity promptly.
