On September 1st, 2025, a Millstadt Officer responded to the Dollar General, 607 West Washington Street, for a retail theft of a cellular phone. The suspect was no longer on scene. However, upon reviewing the store’s surveillance video the officer recognized the suspect. The officer located the suspect and conducted an investigation. The report was forwarded to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office for review, due to the suspect having a previous conviction for retail theft, which made the case a felony. On December 31st the state’s attorney’s office charged the defendant, Adam C. Kempf, age 43 formerly of Millstadt, with Retail Theft – Subsequent; a Class 4 Felony Criminal Offense. On January 7th he was apprehended in Monroe County.
