Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun and drug charges following an investigation.
Beginning in January members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice division have been conducting an investigation into 20-year-old Cornell Clifton in reference to illegal drug sales in the 700 block of East 10th Street.
On January 8th at approximately 11:15 a.m., officers executed a search warrant in the 700 block of East 10th Street. Officers made contact with Clifton and took him into custody without incident. Officers recovered a loaded .9mm handgun, ammunition, miscellaneous gun components, 24.5 grams of marijuana, and drug packaging paraphernalia.
Clifton has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Five Counts
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child - Two Counts
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $61,000 secured-bail.
