Sheriff Clint Roach reports that on January 12, 2026, at approximately 1617 hours, Deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s office were dispatched to single vehicle crash at the intersection of Beeson St., and M 62, in La Grange Township, Cass County, Michigan. 
 
Investigation showed that Shawna Karnes (39 yrs of Cassopolis, MI) was traveling East bound on Beeson St., when her vehicle went off the southside of the roadway, striking some trees. Karnes vehicle then ricocheted to the other side of the road and rolled into a field, catching on fire. Karnes was extricated from the vehicle and transported by MED Flight to South Bend Memorial Hospital for her injuries. 
 
Assisting agencies in this crash were Cass FD, SMCAS, MED Flight 

The crash remains under investigation.
