San Leandro, CA – On January 13, 2026, around 2:30 PM, multiple armed and masked suspects associated with 2 different suspect vehicles attempted to carjack a victim near the intersection of Polvorosa Avenue and Doolittle Drive. The suspects were reportedly armed with both handguns and rifles. The victim was able to flee the scene in their vehicle, unharmed, and report the crime to the San Leandro Police Department
SLPD officers and detectives were able to utilize Flock public safety cameras to assist in canvassing for one of the suspect vehicles. An officer located the vehicle, a white Mercedes SUV, on 82nd Avenue in Oakland. The suspect vehicle fled from the officer and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. The Mercedes pulled over in the 100 block of Glenwood Glade and 3 suspects fled on foot into the neighborhood near Duncan Way.
After an extensive perimeter search, all 3 suspects were located and taken into custody. During the incident, SLPD received critical assistance from the Oakland Police Department and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office who both provided air units, personnel, and police K9 units.
While arrests have been made, the investigation is still on-going.
