Deputy James Day with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Shannon Christina Lowell, 50, of Old Fort with felony Possession of Methamphetamine and misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was initially denied bond due to already being out on pretrial release from pending charges out of Buncombe County.
On Saturday, Jan. 3, Deputy Day initiated a vehicle stop on Lowell after a traffic violation. Lowell was also found to be driving without a license and with a fictitious tag.
A subsequent search of the vehicle by MCSO deputies turned up a suspected amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
The Marion Police Department assisted with the incident.
