NCFS will be doing a prescribed burn on the Big Island (Lake James) starting 11:00 a.m. on 1/16/2026.

The North Carolina Forest Service plans to conduct a 60 acre prescribed burn on the Big Island (Lake James) starting Friday, January 16^th at 11:00 a.m. Residents who have questions concerning the prescribed burn should contact the NC Forest Service @ 828-652-2636.
