SUMMARY: On January 8, 2026, at about 7:40 a.m., Yucaipa deputies responded to a call of a residential burglary in the 9700 Block of Onyx Street in the City of Yucaipa.
During the investigation, deputies learned unknown suspect(s) entered the victim's open garage and stole the victim's purse from inside her vehicle. The victim's purse contained identification cards, credit cards, and approximately $50.00 in cash.
Deputies collected video surveillance from the area that showed three unknown male suspects, one with distinguishable tattoos, checking door handles of nearby vehicles in the area.
Investigators identified a suspect vehicle seen in the area, which was later linked to additional vehicle burglaries reported in Yucaipa and Highland that morning.
Additional video was obtained from nearby retail businesses that showed two male adult suspects using the victim's stolen credit cards to make illegitimate purchases. Both suspects were positively identified as Mark Montoya and Zachery Remick, residents of San Bernardino. After evidence was collected arrest warrants were issued for the pair.
On January 9, 2026, Montoya was contacted and arrested by the Riverside Police Department for an unrelated crime. On January 13, 2026, Remick was arrested by an outside law enforcement agency for his active arrest warrant. Both are currently in custody.
To date, investigators are in the process of identifying additional victims in the Cities of Yucaipa, Highland, and San Bernardino.
