Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun charges following a vehicle stop.
On January 14th at approximately 5:06 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the area of East 11th and North Spruce Streets in reference to a shots fired complaint. Officers obtained a description of the possible suspect and vehicle used in the incident.
A short time later, members of the Safe Streets Task Force located the vehicle in the 900 block of Vandever Avenue and conducted a vehicle stop. Officers made contact with 30-year-old Daiquan Reams and took him into custody without incident.
Subsequently, Officers executed a search warrant on his vehicle and recovered a loaded .9mm handgun, ammunition, and clothing matching the description of the suspect from the shots fired incident.
The shots fired incident is still under investigation.
Reams has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited- Two Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $50,000 cash-only bail.
