Saturation Patrol in City of Santa Maria Designed to Prevent Alcohol-Related violations through targeted, high-visibility enforcement
 
Santa Maria – Officers from the Santa Maria PD conducted targeted patrol in City of Santa Maria on January 15, 2026. Officers visited 6 ABC licensed businesses, and contacted 21 individuals, citing 4 people for alcohol related offenses
 
The objective of the Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Saturation Patrol is to reduce alcohol-related crime, underage drinking, and impaired driving through targeted, high-visibility enforcement in areas with a demonstrated history of alcohol-related violations and calls for service. The operation is designed to increase compliance with the California Alcoholic Beverage Control Act and related sections of the Penal and Vehicle Codes by identifying and addressing violations associated with licensed alcohol establishments and surrounding areas.
 
 
Through targeted patrols, compliance checks, and enforcement actions at and around licensed alcohol establishments, the saturation patrol seeks to increase compliance among licensees, enhance public safety, and promote responsible alcohol service practices. The operation also serves to raise community awareness of alcohol laws and reinforce the consequences of violations, thereby reducing alcohol-related harm within the jurisdiction.
 
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from ABC through the department’s Alcohol Policing Partnership (APP) program.
