El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from December 28th to January 3rd
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from December 28th to January 3rd.
December 28th
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Macdonald Ave at 38th St:
At 12:20 AM, an officer located a stolen vehicle using the AXON Automated License Plate Reader system.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Resisting, Delaying a Peace Officer – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):
At 3:18 AM, an officer reports that the suspect was located outside of Ross when officers received a front door entry alarm activation. The suspect was detained and was in possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect refused to identify themself and was placed under arrest. The suspect later provided identification and was cited and released from the scene.
Vehicle Theft – 1600 block of Elm St: At 10:06 AM, an officer reports theft of a vehicle between midnight and 10:00 AM.
December 29th
Grand Theft - 6800 Block of Gladys Ave:
At 10:39 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole copper wire from a telephone pole.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/ Parole Hold - 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 1:59 PM, officers responded to Safeway for an unwanted subject. Officers contacted the subject and discovered he was a parolee at large with an outstanding warrant. Officers took him into custody for the warrant. During a search incident to arrest officers located a glass pipe commonly used for smoking narcotics. After booking, the subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Petty Theft - 5800 Block of Avila St:
At 2:40 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the front license plate of the victim’s vehicle.
Grand Theft - 6400 Block of Fairmount Ave:
At 2:55 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole property from the victim.
Petty Theft - 11545 San Pablo Ave (Ross):
At 3:28 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole property from the victim as they were shopping in the store.
December 30th
Warrant Arrest - San Pablo Ave/ Linclon Ave:
At 1:38 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for an outstanding warrant. The driver was issued a citation at the scene and released.
Robbery - 10140 San Pablo Ave (Mugunghwa):
At 2:26 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect ordered food and consumed it. The suspect attempted to leave the business without paying and was confronted by an employee and was punched by the suspect.
December 31st
Petty Theft - 2000 El Cerrito Plaza(Ross):
At 1:52 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s property from in front of the business.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle - San Pablo Ave/Central Ave:
At 3:55 PM, an officer received a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. The officer located the vehicle parked unoccupied. The vehicle was recovered from the scene.
January 1st
Driving Under the Influence - San Pablo Ave/Central Ave:
At 12:13 AM, officers responded to the area for a solo vehicle collision. During the investigation officers determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol and placed them under arrest. The driver was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. After booking, the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
Petty Theft - 1700 Block of Lexington Ave:
At 11:58 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole property.
Petty Theft - 1700 Block of Julian Ct:
At 12:46 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole a package from the victim’s porch.
Vandalism - 11654 San Pablo Ave (Freeway Motel):
At 2:45 PM, an officer reports and unknown suspect shattered the windows of the victim’s vehicle.
Vandalism - 1300 Block of Lawrence St:
At 3:50 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect damaged the victim’s gate.
Robbery - 5010 El Cerrito Plaza (Dave’s Hot Chicken):
At 4:03 PM, an officer reports two suspects brandished a firearm at the victim’s and demanded their property.
Stolen Vehicle - 11645 San Pablo Ave(Freeway Motel):
At 6:23 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle.
Public Intoxication/Battery - 10012 San Pablo Ave(Pic N Pac):
At 9:01 PM, officers responded to the business after the suspect threw beer at the victims. Officers contacted the suspect at the scene and determined he was under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
January 2nd
Robbery/Unlawful Use of Tear Gas – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 8:15 AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect pulled out mace and a steak knife and threatened employees when confronted for shoplifting. All merchandise was recovered before the suspect fled to a waiting vehicle.
Tampering with a Vehicle - 6600 Block of Gatto Ave:
At 10:57 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect smashed out a window of the victim’s vehicle to gain entry. The suspect then rummaged through vehicle but did not take anything.
January 3rd
Defrauding an Innkeeper – 8000 El Cerrito Plaza (Macaroni Grill):
At 2:47 PM, an officer reports two juveniles ordered and consumed food, then left without paying. The juveniles were located and detained. Both juveniles were turned over to adult relatives.
Restraining Order Violation/Petty Theft – 10800 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 3:57 PM, an officer reports a known suspect came to the residence in violation of a restraining order, and stole property.
Shoplift - 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 7:43 PM, an officer reports two unknown suspects attempted to leave the store with unpaid merchandise and was confronted by store employees. One of the suspects threw a bag of merchandise back causing damage and fled with another bag.
Shoplift - 6000 El Cerrito Plaza(Marshalls):
At 9:28 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect fled the store after concealing various merchandise into bags.
