Advisory

Winter Weather Advisory - Sunday 1/18/2026 - 3 to 4 Inches in the AM

Winter Weather Advisory
Sunday

Before we jump into the official breakdown, a quick reality check. This storm is once again trying very hard to be something other than snow. It would really prefer to be rain or sleet. Unfortunately, based on the latest NOAA guidance, it is expected to pull itself together and behave like an actual winter storm for several hours Sunday morning. The concern for 3 to 4 inches of snow is very real, especially along the I-95 corridor. If the ground is wet, treat every surface like it is just waiting to betray you. I will put out a road report Sunday morning once conditions are observed in real time.

• Timing:
○ Snow begins in the pre-dawn hours Sunday, possibly starting as a brief period of light rain before changing to snow.
○ Heaviest snowfall expected Sunday morning through early Sunday afternoon.
○ Snow tapers off by Sunday evening.

• Olaf Index Snow: 4
○ Expected snowfall totals of 3 to 4 inches across the West Windsor, Trenton, and I-95 corridor area.
○ Snowfall rates over 1 inch per hour are possible between 9 AM and 1 PM, which is snow’s way of saying “good luck.”
○ Olaf reminds everyone that even moderate snow still requires shoveling.
○ Engage the Teen-Age-Shovel-App. This involves actual teenagers, real shovels, and negotiations involving snacks (Fluffernutters!), rides, or future leniency.
○ Please remember to shovel your sidewalks as required by local ordinance. Olaf checked the ordinance. He is very disappointed when sidewalks are ignored.

• Dorothy and Toto Index Wind: 3
○ Winds will not be extreme, but enough to make falling snow less cooperative.
○ Some blowing snow possible in open areas.
○ Dorothy recommends a hood. Toto insists on ears covered.

• Elsa Index Ice and Cold: 5
○ Ice potential is limited, but untreated and wet surfaces may freeze as temperatures drop.
○ Cold conditions will make snow linger and refreeze where compacted.
○ Elsa advises layers, gloves, and pretending you meant to dress this way.

• Lightning McQueen Road Index: 6
○ Snow-covered roads are likely, especially during heavier snowfall Sunday morning and early afternoon.
○ Slippery conditions and hazardous travel are possible along the I-95 corridor.
○ Slow it down, leave extra space, and remember that Lightning McQueen learned patience eventually.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6 AM to 8 PM Sunday, primarily for the I-95 corridor from northeast New Jersey through the Delaware Valley and into northern Delaware.

The next update will be provided Sunday morning. Road conditions will be addressed once we see how much effort this storm actually puts in.

Stay Safe & Warm!
