On Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 4:34 p.m., a fire was reported in a mobile home at the Brookside Mobile Home Park along Route 1. South Brunswick Police Officers arrived within minutes and confirmed the residents had made it out of the home.
Monmouth Junction firefighters arrived and were met with heavy fire inside the residence. Kendall Park and Kingston Fire Departments also responded to the blaze. Monmouth Junction First Aid and South Brunswick EMS responded to the scene and treated the injured. Two residents were transported to St. Peter's University Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. The father remains hospitalized.
The fire heavily damaged the home. The family is staying with friends. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the South Brunswick Fire Marshal, but it is not considered suspicious.
