INCIDENT: Vehicle Vs. Pedestrian Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: State Highway 18 and Apple Valley Road, Apple Valley, CA
DRIVER 1: 21-year-old male resident of Victorville
VEHICLE 1: Grey 2015 Nissan Altima
PEDESTRIAN 1: 37-year-old male transient
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, January 18, 2026, at approximately 10:54 PM, deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station, rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District and American Medical Response responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash in the Town of Apple Valley on Highway 18 near the intersection of Apple Valley Road.
A grey Nissan Altima drove east on State Highway 18. The Nissan collided with a 37-year-old male transient in the number
two lane of State Highway 18. The male sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The decedent’s
name is withheld pending next of kin notification.
The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No drugs or alcohol were determined to be a factor in the collision. Eastbound lanes of Highway 18 between Stoddard Wells Road and Apple Valley Road were closed for approximately 6.5 hours due to the collision.
Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigative Team (M.A.I.T) assumed
the investigation. Deputies processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses. The investigation is ongoing at this
time.
