INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Yucaipa Boulevard/5th Street, Yucaipa, CA
PEDESTRIAN: Female Adult, 74-years-old, Resident of Yucaipa
SUMMARY: On Monday, January 19, 2026, at approximately 9:44 a.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department-Yucaipa Station along with rescue personnel from Yucaipa Fire Department and AMR ambulance responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian collision at the intersection of Yucaipa Boulevard and 5th Street, in Yucaipa.
Upon arrival, deputies determined a teal 2006 Hyundai Tucson SUV traveled north on 5th Street. As the vehicle made a right turn onto Yucaipa Boulevard, the vehicle struck a female pedestrian in the marked crosswalk. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries from the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) responded and assumed the investigation. The involved driver of the Hyundai Tucson remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. It was determined during the investigation that neither drugs nor alcohol contributed to the collision.
The eastbound lanes of Yucaipa Boulevard remained closed for several hours while deputies conducted their investigation. The roadway was reopened at approximately 1:15 p.m.
