Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. requests the public’s help in locating Shakinah Bloomfield, 35, of Newark, who is wanted for questioning about a shooting on January 17, 2026.
At approximately 10:11 a.m., the ShotSpotter detection system picked up gunfire on Hawthorne Avenue near Elizabeth Avenue and the White Castle restaurant. Police responded, canvassed the area, and located six shell casings. As part of the investigation, the suspect was captured on surveillance video exiting a white GMC sport utility vehicle with a rifle-style firearm. The suspect then walked toward Hawthorne Avenue.
