Police Seek Help Locating Missing Newark Teenage Girl
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., seeks the public’s help in locating Lovely Mells, 15, of Newark, who was reported missing on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Lovely was last seen at approximately 12:07 a.m. outside of the YMCA building in the 600 block of Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Boulevard. When confronted by a case worker about where she was going, Lovely did not answer. She only walked away.
Known as a frequent runaway, Lovely is described as African American with a light-brown complexion, 5’3” tall, 120 pounds, with long black and pink braids, and brown eyes. She was wearing a black coat, gray sweatpants, black sneakers, and carrying a large black duffel bag.
Director Miranda Sr. urges anyone with information about the whereabouts of Lovely Mells to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
