Deputies Investigate a Road Rage Incident that Leads to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon Arrest

INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon Other than a Firearm
LOCATION: 6800 block of Avalon Avenue, Town of Yucca Valley
SUSPECT(S): Dante Killebrew, 28-year-old resident of Yucca Valley
VICTIM(S): Confidential 24-year old female, three-year old juvenile female, and one-year old female juvenile, residents of Yucca Valley
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, January 18, 2026, at about 4:00 PM, Morongo Basin Station deputies responded to an unknown traffic collision in the 6800 block of Avalon Avenue.
Upon arrival, deputies located a 24-year-old female victim and her two juvenile children, ages one and three, standing near a crashed vehicle. The investigation revealed the collision was caused by the suspect, Dante Killebrew.
What initially appeared to be a felony hit-and-run incident, deputies later determined to be an intentional and violent act on the part of Killebrew. Further investigation by deputies determined Killebrew used his vehicle as a deadly weapon, deliberately ramming the victim’s vehicle during a road rage incident, all while the driver's juvenile children were inside.
All victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of pain related to the assault.
Killebrew was arrested and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail on charges of California Penal Code 245(a)(1) - Assault with a Deadly Weapon Other than a Firearm.
