In anticipation of this weekend's snow, please see some helpful tips about snow removal
- Park your vehicles off the road. Township ordinances prohibit on-street parking during plowing operations. This will allow the snow removal crews to plow the road more efficiently and from curb to curb.
(Township Code Section 385-15)
- Wait for the snowplow to plow your street before clearing the end of your driveway. Township Code prohibits all persons from throwing,casting, placing or depositing snow and ice, which accumulates within private property, on streets within the Township of Ocean. (Township Code Section 336-15 through 336-16).
- Shovel the majority of the snow from your driveway to the left side(when facing your home from the street). When the snowplow arrives,there will be less snow piled up to be turned over back into the driveway apron.
- Remove any portable basketball hoops from the street to allow for curb to curb plowing. Remember, most snowplows are as tall as the hoop.
- Plowing operations are interesting and especially catch the attention of children. However, plowing is dangerous and requires extreme concentration, so please instruct children to avoid the snowplows.
- Avoid driving if you can, allow the snowplows to accomplish their task and make the roads safer for traveling.
