The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, JANUARY 12, 2025:
 
4:24 AM Officer Benjamin investigated an attempted window smash vehicle burglary near Buena Vista Dr & Cherry St.
 
8:46 AM Officer S. Torres investigated an attempted stolen vehicle near Joaquin Murieta Ave & Cedar Blvd. The sunroof was shattered.
 
12:17 PM Community Service Officer (CSO) Vuong investigated an attempted vehicle theft near Joaquin Murieta Ave & Cherry St. The driver’s side window was shattered.
 
2:20 PM Officer Jackman responded to a civil standby request near Newark Blvd & Dairy Ave. A 62-year-old male was arrested for disobeying commands and battery. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
6:21 PM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a residential burglary near Thornton Ave & Willow St.
 
8:29 PM Officer Felix investigated a report of fraudulent firearm equipment purchases made online without the owner’s consent.
 
TUESDAY, JANUARY 13, 2025:
 
7:21 AM CSO Vuong investigated a vehicle burglary near Thornton Ave & Cherry St. Loss of tools were reported.
 
7:51 AM CSO Vuong responded to a catalytic converter theft near Wells Ave & Spruce St.
 
2:42 PM CSO Vuong investigated a package theft reported near Cedar Blvd & Mowry Ave.
 
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14, 2025:
 
12:32 PM CSO Lau investigated a vehicle burglary on Newpark Mall Road. Loss of various tools reported.
 
1:18 PM Officer C. Torres investigated a report of cargo theft near Filbert St & Enterprise Dr.
 
2:32 PM Officer Orozco responded to a disturbance reported near Cedar Blvd & Musick Ave. A 66-year-old male was arrested for trespassing and causing a disruption. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
3:34 PM Officer Quinonez investigated a residential burglary reported near Joaquin Murieta Ave & Cedar Blvd. Entry was made from a window screen, which was cut with an unknown tool.
 
THURSDAY, JANUARY 15, 2025:
 
6:42 AM Officer Felix investigated a vehicle burglary on Newpark Mall Road. Several tools and tool boxes were reported stolen.
 
6:59 AM Officer Ansari investigated the theft of tires from a vehicle reported near Haley & Bettencourt Street.
 
8:02 AM Officer Felix investigated a backflow valve theft from a business near Smith Ave & Cherry St.
 
2:54 PM Officer Shaffer conducted a pedestrian stop near Thornton Ave & Elm St. A 33-year-old male was arrested for a court-issued warrant. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
6:10 PM Officer Diaz-Perez responded to a battery report near Mowry Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 23-year-old male was arrested for aggravated assault. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
FRIDAY, JANUARY 16, 2025:
 
8:16 AM Officer Medina investigated a backflow valve theft from a business near Central Ave & Cedar Blvd.
 
10:39 AM Officer Berlanga investigated a vehicle theft reported near Thornton Ave & Willow St. The vehicle was later recovered nearby with a shattered window and a bypassed ignition.
 
2:44 PM Officer Felix conducted a warrant check near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 33-year-old male was arrested for outstanding warrants and possession of narcotics. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
9:38 PM Officer Quinonez responded to a suspicious circumstance reported near Newark Blvd & Central Ave. It was determined a residential burglary had occurred. The loss is currently undetermined.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 17, 2025:
 
2:36 PM Officer Jou investigated a disturbance reported near Cherry St & Thornton Ave. A 53-year-old male was arrested for causing a scene. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
8:45 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Thornton Ave & Olive St. Various tools were taken from the interior of the vehicle.
 
3:48 PM CSO Mora responded to a report of a stolen vehicle near Haley & Bettencourt St.
 
SUNDAY, JANUARY 18, 2025:
 
12:40 AM Officer Kim responded to the theft of a cellphone near Balentine Dr & Newpark Mall Road.
 
1:39 AM Officer Benjamin conducted a traffic stop near Cedar Blvd & Milani Ave. A 38-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
8:23 AM Officer Lor investigated a vehicle theft reported near Thornton Ave & Locust St.
 
10:03 AM Officer S. Torres investigated the theft of a backflow valve from Cedar Community Park.
 
10:42 AM Officer Jackman investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Mowry Ave & Cedar Blvd. Loss is currently unknown.
