The Raritan Township Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor this weekends, Winter Storm.
Long Duration High Impact Storm Sunday - Monday... The majority of our 8.0 - 12.0" will fall roughly 7 AM - 5 PM on Sunday, and particularly during a 3 - 6 hour period 10 AM - 4 PM, when rates exceed 1" per hour. As we get towards sunset, and especially beyond, we're likely going to see areas of sleet and perhaps freezing rain as the intensity of precipitation diminishes.
This mix continues into the overnight (which will weigh down and make the earlier snow accumulation denser), though it may significantly lull in the predawn. There is another push of snow Monday morning before it ends around or a bit past midday.
With any significant snowfall, we can expect hazardous driving conditions, the potential for power outages, snow parking regulations and other storm-related impacts. The forecast can change quickly, so all residents should prepare for a significant snowfall and continue to monitor the National Weather Service,Raritan OEM, and your trusted local weather source for updates.
Ahead of the winter storm predicted for this weekend, Raritan Township’s Department of Public Works (DPW) is reminding residents to remove their vehicles from Township streets. Please stay off the streets and help us keep the Township safe.
Snowplows will be out salting and plowing throughout the duration of the storm.
