Robberies
 
There was one robbery during the past week.
 
On Tuesday, 01-13-26, at approximately 12:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Westlake Shopping Center on a report of a robbery. The victim stated that while he was outside Walgreens, he began to dance for unknown reasons. The victim stated that multiple suspects approached him, engaged in a physical altercation, and stole his cell phone from his sweatshirt pocket. Four suspects were detained.
 
 
Residential Burglaries
 
There were no residential burglaries during the past week.
 
 
Commercial Burglaries
 
There were two commercial burglaries during the past week.
 
On Tuesday, 01-13-26, at approximately 6:13 p.m., officers were dispatched to Nordstrom Rack at the Serramonte Center on a report of a detained shoplifter. A security officer stated that he observed the suspect select a scarf and place it inside a backpack. A loss prevention officer also observed the suspect select miscellaneous jewelry and place the items inside the backpack. The suspect then exited the store without paying. Once outside the store, the suspect was detained, and police were called. The merchandise was recovered from the backpack. Additional stolen jackets and perfume belonging to Macy’s were recovered from the suspect’s vehicle. A stolen package from San Francisco was also recovered. The suspect, a 30-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for commercial burglary, grand theft, and possession of stolen property.
 
On Friday, 01-16-26, between approximately 10:50 p.m. and midnight, a victim had his car keys, wallet, jeans, belt, cash, and credit and debit cards stolen from his locked locker at Planet Fitness on Junipero Serra Boulevard. At approximately 12:13 a.m., the victim’s credit card was used at a store in San Francisco. This investigation is ongoing.
 
 
Vehicle Burglaries   
 
There was one vehicle burglary during the past week.
 

• King Drive and Arley Court—a passport was taken from a 2025 Honda Accord. Forced entry to the passenger side door. Occurred between 6:00 p.m. on 01-18-26 and 9:30 a.m. on 01-19-26.

 
 
Stolen Vehicles 
 
There were two stolen vehicles and one attempted vehicle theft during the past week. One vehicle was recovered.
 

• 300 block of Crestview Circle—a theft of a 2015 Nissan Rogue. Occurred on 01-16-26 at approximately 5:09 a.m.

 

• South Mayfair Avenue and Elmwood Drive—a theft of a 2018 Ford Transit. Occurred between 5:30 p.m. on 01-17-26 and 1:30 a.m. on 01-18-26. **Recovered by the San Pablo Police Department on 01-19-26.

 

• 100 block of Eastmoor Avenue—an attempted theft of a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro. Occurred on 01-18-26 at approximately 10:14 p.m.

 
 
Miscellaneous
 

• There were 141 cases taken.

 

• There were 11 domestic disturbance cases reported.

 

• There were 6 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.

 

• There were 4 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.

 

• There were 2 cases of public intoxication.

 

• There were 3 hit-and-run collisions reported.

 

• There were 5 narcotics-related cases taken.

The Daly City Public Library Associates (DCPLA) is calling all poets, spoken word artists, writers, and rappers to win a chance to represent Daly City as the 2026-27 Daly City Youth Poet Laureate. DCPLA in partnership with the National Youth Poet Laureate Program, Urban Word, and the Daly City Public Library, celebrates teen poets who live or attend school in Daly City and exhibit a commitment to artistic excellence, civic engagement, leadership, and social justice. Sandbags Available While Supplies Last
 
Sandbags are accessible 24/7 at two locations for residents with proof of residency:
 
- Department of Water & Wastewater Resources (parking lot) - 153 Lake Merced Blvd.  
- Department of Public Works (Corporation Yard entrance) - 798 Niantic Ave.  
 
Limit 10. Please take only what is needed as supplies are limited. When filling sandbags, fill them only halfway, so they are not too heavy to lift and will stack properly.
