Storm Update 1/22/2026 2pm
Winter Weather Preparation Post
This is a preparation update. Forecast confidence is increasing, but details will continue to refine. Now is the time to get ready, not panic or buy bread like it is a competitive sport. Finding milk and eggs before a storm is so impossible that scientists have officially classified them as endangered species the moment a snowflake appears on the radar. I am really hoping we all get ready and this turns into rain!!! But just in case, I would cancel your Sunday, Monday & Tuesday plans now. You didn’t want to go anyway, admit it.
• Timing:
○ Current forecast shows impacts beginning late Saturday evening, continuing through Sunday, and potentially lingering into early Monday.
○ Exact start and end times will tighten up as we get closer, but this is shaping up to be a long duration event rather than a quick hit.
• Olaf Index (Snow): 10
○ Olaf is very excited and already stretching.
○ Significant snowfall is possible, with the potential for major accumulations if the colder solution verifies.
○ Olaf reminds everyone that snow does not care about your Sunday plans, your driveway, or your back.
Expectations are well within 10 to 12 inches with a 10% probability of 24"
• Teenage Shovel App: - Engaged!!! Start prepping them now, plenty of rest and fluffernutters!!!
• Dorothy Index (Wind): 6
○ Gusty winds are expected, especially during the height of the storm.
○ Blowing and drifting snow may reduce visibility.
○ Dorothy advises securing loose items now. Toto has already hidden the trash cans and put on those terrible little booties.
• Elsa Index (Ice): 2
○ Ice is not the main feature, but a light mix is possible depending on storm track.
○ Elsa says this is more of a “slick spots” situation than an ice palace. Still enough to cause trouble if ignored.
• Roads:
○ Snow covered roads and hazardous travel are expected during the storm period.
○ Travel disruptions are likely.
○ Roads will be treated and plowed, but Mother Nature always gets first move.
Why was Lightning McQueen the only car not sliding on the road? Because he was parked safely in the pits.

• This will be the last report for this storm
We will continue to hold ongoing coordination meetings with the Mayor, Business Administrator, OEM Director / Fire Chief, and the Director of Public Works. Resources are being staged, plans are in place, and we are ready. The goal is preparation, not reaction.
Preparedness:
- Residents are encouraged to prepare for the storm by securing loose items, stocking up on food and needed supplies, charging your phones, tablets, and other mobile devices, and staying off the road during the storm period.
- Be mindful of the possibility of large tree limbs or trees falling due to wind gusts. There will likely be debris in roadways, use extra caution while driving after the storm subsides.
- Residents are urged to stay away from any downed wires, and treat all downed wires as “live” even if power appears to be out in the area.
- Prevention Carbon Monoxide Poisoning - Do not run any fuel-powered generators in a garage or other enclosed space or near windows. This is a good time to test battery-powered smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
- Township Property Owners are Responsible for Snow Removal on Sidewalks within 24 hours after the cease of snowfall per Municipal Code 152-18: https://ecode360.com/8061955
- Township Property Owners Shall not place snow or ice on Township Streets per Municipal Code 152-19: https://ecode360.com/8061956
- Please remove your vehicle from the street when snow is forecasted.
- Please avoid driving on during or immediately after a heavy snowstorm. The less traffic plow operators encounter, the more efficiently the roads can be cleared.
- Please place your garbage/recycling cans on your property and Not on/in street. Objects such as portable basketball hoops and hockey nets, etc. should be removed from the street to avoid being damaged by snow plows.

Carbon Monoxide
Any gas appliance can be a source of carbon monoxide, a dangerous gas that deprives the body of oxygen, resulting in serious injury or death. Don't use a gas stove as a source of heat, as this increases the likelihood of carbon monoxide poisoning. Make sure the stove is vented to the outside and the vent it not blocked. Install a carbon monoxide detector in homes where gas appliances, including gas stoves, are being used.
