APD is advising residents of hazardous winter weather expected over the next few days.
- Dangerously cold temperatures are expected to arrive Friday night, with wind chills below zero.
- Anyone in need of shelter can go to Capital City Rescue Mission located at 259 South Pearl Street or Safe Haven Drop-In Shelter located at 26 South Swan Street. HATAS Homeless Hotline can also be called at (518) 463-2124
- Avoid unnecessary travel during periods of extreme cold and snowfall.
- If travel is necessary, reduced speed and increase following distance.
- Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle, including warm clothing, blankets, water and a flashlight.
- Dress in warm layers and limit time outdoors to reduce the risk of frostbite and hypothermia.
- Check on elderly neighbors and family members.
- Bring pets indoors.
