TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Snow Accumulations of 7 to 11 Inches Anticipated Sunday, January 25th into Monday, January 26th

Residents Asked to Be Mindful of No Parking on Snow-Covered Roadways Signs

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., reports that snow is predicted this weekend, with accumulations of 7” to 11” on Sunday, January 25th, and continuing into Monday, January 26th.

Snow is expected to begin falling after 1 a.m. Sunday, with accumulations of less than 1” possible, and becoming heavier as the day progresses. An additional 2” to 4” of snow is expected on Sunday night.

All residents are asked to be mindful of the city’s “No Parking on Snow Covered Roads” regulations due to the expected snowfall. Signs have been posted on streets throughout the City of Newark to notify motorists of the streets designated for No Parking on Snow-Covered Roads.

Double parking is also prohibited during snow emergencies to enable snow plows to clear the roadways.

Whenever snow has fallen, and the accumulation is such that it covers the street or highway, no vehicle shall be parked on major roadways or portions thereof.  For a list of streets to be avoided during snow accumulations visit the Department of Public Safety’s website: www.newarkpublicsafety.org.
