Winter Weather Alert – Stay Safe & Prepared!
The Fair Haven Department of Public Works is working hard to keep our roads clear and safe during the snowstorm. Please help us by following these important reminders:
1. Avoid Unnecessary Travel – Roads may be slippery and visibility reduced. If you must drive, go slow and leave extra space between vehicles.
2. No ON-Street Parking During Snow Operations – This ensures plows can clear roads efficiently and safely.
3. No Parking in Borough Facility Parking Lots During Snow Removal – Lots must remain clear so crews can plow and treat surfaces without obstruction.
4. Remove All Obstructions from Roadways – This includes trash and recycling containers, basketball hoops, and any other recreational or personal items. Keeping the roadway clear helps plows work quickly and prevents damage.
5. Do Not Shovel or Plow Snow into Roadways – This creates hazards for drivers, blocks storm drains, and forces plows to re-clear the same areas. Always pile snow onto your property or designated areas.
6. Recycling Area Closed During and After Storm – The municipal recycling area will remain closed until snow and ice are cleared and the area is made safe for public use.
7. Clear Sidewalks & Hydrants – Residents and businesses are responsible for clearing sidewalks after snowfall ends. Keep fire hydrants accessible for emergency crews.
8. Stay Informed – Follow Fair Haven Website/social media for updates on road conditions, closures, and emergency alerts.
9. Check on Neighbors – Especially seniors or those with limited mobility.
10. Warming Station—In the unlikely event we lose power and a warming station is necessary, detailed information will be provided.
