City of Bessemer City Issues State of Emergency Ahead of Winter Storm
Bessemer City, NC — Mayor Becky S. Smith has declared a State of Emergency for the City of Bessemer City in response to a significant winter weather system expected to impact the area. Forecasts from the National Weather Service and NOAA indicate hazardous conditions, including snow, sleet, and freezing rain, which may cause severe disruptions and pose risks to public safety.
The City’s Emergency Management Plan has been activated, and emergency personnel are prepared to respond as conditions develop. City officials urge residents and businesses to limit travel, remain alert to changing weather conditions, and follow all instructions from public safety officials.
The State of Emergency is effective immediately and will remain in place for up to seven days unless rescinded or extended. Additional updates will be shared as conditions warrant.
