Deputy Bradley Biddix with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged two individuals after they broke into an assisted living facility this week. Gage Allen Marcus, 32, of Morganton, and 60-year-old Karen Lavern Marcus, also of Morganton, were each charged with felony Breaking and/or Entering and felony Larceny After Breaking and Entering. Both received secured bonds in the amount of $7,500.
On Tuesday, January 13, the owner of a local assisted living facility, called into the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office to report a breaking-and-entering. The facility has been closed due to damage from Hurricane Helene.
Upon arrival, deputies located Gage and Karen Marcus exiting a rear door.
After speaking with them, it was determined that both had unlawfully entered the facility and they were taken into custody.
