Snow Emergency Called Due to Weather Forecast
Please be advised that in anticipation of heavy snowfall, the Mayor has declared a snow emergency that will start Monday January 26th, 2026, at 7am and end Wednesday January 28th, 2026, at 7pm. The Watervliet Police Department will notify residents to move their vehicles while Department of Public Works (DPW) plows the street. City officials estimate that residents will need to park elsewhere for approximately one (1) hour.
Vehicles that are not moved will be towed, and owners will be fined $100 in addition to the $200 towing fee. Those whose vehicles are towed will need to visit the Police Department where they can pick up a copy of their ticket. Vehicle owners will then need to take the ticket to City Hall, Finance Office to pay the fee and fine and Finance will direct vehicle owners where to pick up the vehicle.
Residents are advised to continue checking media, the website and City Hall to determine whether the snow emergency has been extended in response to continued snow fall.
Garbage collection could also be affected. It may be cancelled for Monday depending on the amount of snow we get.
In the event of any changes due to the weather conditions we will update through the city's website and our Nixle Alert system.
